Joy Shiang

“Creation doesn’t always begin from nothing — it’s about redefining unseen value!”

Joy is an alumna of the fifth cohort of the YLL–NTU Talent Program. Centering her work on “textile surplus reuse,” she conducted interviews with fabric manufacturers, promoted awareness of the issue, and facilitated industry collaboration. She went on to conceptualize a “Surplus Fabric Platform” to advance circular regeneration in the textile industry. Through this program, Joy earned a scholarship for an exchange program in the Netherlands, where she continues to deepen her commitment to sustainable practice.

After graduation, Joy founded the brand 初布 CHOOBOO, which later expanded through collaboration with a listed company and was renamed 庫畢 Could Be. The brand is dedicated to using surplus fabric materials to create customized apparel for businesses, communities, schools, and brand events—embodying the spirit of “sustainable manufacturing, made in Taiwan.”

As of 2025, in addition to continuing to run her brand, Joy is pursuing a master’s degree in Communication and Information Studies at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, aspiring to bring her vision to a broader international stage.
